Now that I am getting close to my goal, I am finding it easier to want to pick up the instrument and practice. Before it was hard because I could not play the full song and it was boring practising the same small section of the song. It is also very frustrating teaching yourself and not getting it at the start. After practising the song all the way through over and over I am feeling more comfortable switching between the two chord patterns. Today I filmed myself because when I am focused on playing I do not realize that I switch between the two chord patterns. After watching the video of myself I can see that I know when to switch between the two patterns and I do it naturally now without realizing it. There is one part of the song that I do to know what the chords should be so I have made my guess with what sounds right to me. I will have to go back and review the video again next time I practice to make sure I am doing it right or to see if they even go over it. The video breaks the song up into the verse, the chorus, and the bridge. The video does not play the full song through so it is possible that it does not say what the pattern is for the one part. The ending is hit and miss for me when it changes to G strumming Down, Down-Up twice then F Down, Down-Up twice, then G again Down, Down-Up twice and F Down. Sometimes I forget to switch to G because I am focused one the chord pattern starting with D minor. When I filmed myself I got the ending right and I was proud. I find it really beneficial to video record myself and then listen and watch myself play. This is important because since I am teaching myself I do not have someone to watch and correct me so I have to watch the video of myself then correct myself. I have tried singing the song and playing but ran into the same issue as last time, and started losing my timing. Billie Eilish also has a higher range than I do so it is a difficult song to sing. I do not think I will be singing in my final video as I do not play as good when I have tried and I do not feel comfortable filming myself singing off key, pitch and everything else. I will let Billie do that and I will play along with my uke. Because the song is quiet I am going to try strumming a little lighter to create a more piano sound.
