This is a brief overview of what I have learned so far in EDCI 336;

FIPPA= Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act. The importance of consent relating to posting or sharing photos of people or the work of others. We discussed the Most Likely to Succeed film which was about a project-based school’s approach to learning, which was developing the importance of inquiry in learning. We then created openEd accounts and customized them. We learned how to use Twitter for educational purposes. We created a Trello account and formed groups for our tech inquiry assignments. We discussed ways to teach technology safety and how to avoid plagiarism. Example: you can use photos from the internet for powerpoint presentations etc. as long as you are not sharing or distributing your work with these images on it. We were introduced to the BC Open Textbook Project. OER= Open Education Resource.

Competencies covered: privacy & safety, open pedagogy, collaboration (Trello), and social media (twitter and blogging).
